Omaha Hi – lo Basics

Omaha Hi – Lo is a very misunderstood game. There are a few basic principles that people miss out on and it is actually a very skilled game of poker. A few golden rules will help you on your way. I will presume you know the basics. Your Aim is always to ‘scoop’ the pot. That is to say win the hi and the lo. If your starting hand is not capable of doing that IT IS NOT A GOOD HAND. It may become so as the cards unfold, but it isn’t ever a great starting hand. So many people think that KKJJ or other high cards are amazing cards or conversely that A2xx is an amazing hand. whilst these are certainly good hands they are not great. so the best hand to start is obvious .. AA23 double suited.

A-A-2-3 Suited
A-A-2-5 DS
A-A-2-4 Suited
A-A-3-4 DS
A-A-2-3 Non-suited

A-A-2-6 DS
